"Oh, how densely packed your head is, my sweet," sighs Grandmother Growth. " If you could empty your mind, leave off worrying and planning for a while, and give in to chaos and its random pleasure, just for a short time, I think you'd feel less pressure and your head would hurt less" ...Susun Weed. Prevent Migraines
-
- Avoid trigger foods, such as caffeine, chocolate, soy, red wine, aged cheese,
sourdough, onions, citrus fruits, guar gum, monosodium glutamage (MSG),
fermented, smoked and salted toods.
- Add magnesium supplements or magnesium-rich foods (see Quinoa Tabbouli recipe)
- Chew Feverfew (Tanacetum parthenum) leaves daily (see article)
- Drink a glass of water to head off a migraine Chrystle Fiedler in The Complete Idiot's Guide to Natural Remedies says that the physiology of the body changes when you add pure water,in a way that may turn off or prevent the headache.
- Aromatherapy:
Essential oils of peppermint, rosemary and lavender have been shown to
prevent or ease headaches and nausea, especially those triggered by
smells. Apply to where it hurts, nape of neck, temples, forehead.
Avoid the eye area.
Relieve Migraines
- Step 0. Do Nothing Susun Weed, in Menopausal Years, (Ash Tree Publishing) suggests: "Follow your natural instinct when pained by headache: lie in total silence, in complete dakness, and sleep,if possible, until the headache is gone."
- Soak your feet in hot water, while applying a cool cloth to the nape of your neck. Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to the foot soak.
- Skullcap tincture (Scutellaria laterifora) tincture can ease the pain, as can
- St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) tincture.
